ARMAGEDDON by DKF ARMAGEDDON by DKF
thought i'd do a piece with a lot of asteroids for a change. i had a terragen render left and altho it is not one of the best it suits the piece imo. i'm sorry for the big filesize but it is worth it and cropping it would mean loss of detail. all favs and comments appreciated as always ;)

edit: added forgotten reflection. tnx to coldflame for pointing it out.

the concept is not new, but the angle of the composition and even the sheer amount of volume of the falling meteors is astounding !!! the planet beyond remains as still and peaceful as the water in the first plane - giving it bizarre destructive balance ..hmm...Like it a lot

This is my favourite work of yours, really beatiful. I wanted to comment a few minor details:

The visible details on the continents texture: Cities and farms must be really huge to be visible up into space.

The atmosphere on the front moon(?) is very beautiful, I didn't first notice it at all. On earth standards it should be a bit thicker, but I guess it's fine for a smaller rock.

Reflections on the water look a bit weird... I would've faded and distorted them a bit more.

The comets and the impact effects are brilliantly made, I love them.

All in all, keep up the good job.

Funny...I didn't know my nine yr. old son knew what the concept of ARMAGEDDON was/meant...till he bore his soul in front of a whole congregation the other day that they'd better prepare for it. I was kinda shocked...heehee.
ANyways, I Love your Pic.
