Hi there,

Had the sun in this piece on my hd for about a year and really wanted to do something with it becouse it has a certain intensity over it. So with a few additions i came to what you see above. Photoshop, 3dsmax and lots of textures combined in a psd of 156 mb makes this a pretty big yet detailed piece. I hope you guys like it as well. Comments and favs are welcome. Tnx for viewing.

The texture on the star makes it look quite flat, perhaps a little more spherizing? Everything else is just gorgeous.

Amazing, my friend. The lighting is perfect. With so much black around it it gives the effect of loneliness. To be honest I felt at piece just looking at the asteroids imagining the solitude.

Verry nice work here. The starfield is good, nothing really special about it. The planet is perfect, the cloud layer looks good and the land texture works good (nice and green for a change). I like the asteroids verry much, I want to ask how you did that but that is like asking a great magician about how he do his tricks. So I don't. It all looks verry nice.

The few things that I don't like is for one the sun. It looks so unfinsihed and it doesn't blend with the rest of the picture. I do need to say that those flames from the sun are verry well thougd off but the sun's texture is verry unclear, verry blurry. I also see the texture in it like it's copied or something. One other thing is or are the nabula's in the background. First hand I thougd they looked amazing but after a bit closer looking I saw some rough adges, that aint that bad but there are some parts that are to light and almost look like asteroids. I can't really explain why I don't like them, I hope you don't mind...

Great picture, the only thing that bothers me really is the sun, a bit more work and it will work.

The planets are really amzing, as always. I also like the asteroids for they look so, uhhhm, sweet :) The big star looks very nice too, you don't see them that much in space piccies :)
The whole piece isn't really realistic, lol, All atoms with low atom numbers would be subtracted from the planets by the sun. Even a planet as far from the sun as Mars couldn't keep its atmosphere.. In a solar system, you see rocky planets consisting of atoms with high atom numbers, getting further away from the sun you get gas planets with atoms with lower atom numbers, where they are less effected by the sun. But after all it's called "art". It should be neat to look at and this certainly does.
Keep it up man!

its a great piece indeed, dont think i can add much here, cept to offer my congrats. However, i think the starfield lets the whole piece down. Its just so bland and unvaried. Might be worth making it a bit more dynamic?

Finally a new piece from one of my favorite spaceartists. I really like that concept, the sun is absolutely fantastic. No crits about the planet, top notch as usual. The detail of the asteroid belt is just stunning, so is the lighting and the more darker parts in the background. No more to say, i'm deeply impressed once again

love the feel of aproaching danger here. And how the planet is sourounded on both sides by atroids and by the sun, makes me think of living life on the edge. Your really starting to get the atroids pretty perfect in my opion, they look just like I would imagine them to be in real life. The spacedust in the background looks a bit to textured, I guess you used a textured brush to make those. Nothing wrong with that but it just stand out way to much to me. The star looks awsome in my eyes, nothing wrong with a bit of bluryness. AS you already said intense heat makes things apear blury kind of like if you go outside on a hot day the pavement looks really blurred. If you want to make this piece really real, the atroids would have made craters in that planet a long time ago. Also there would be no clouds/water/atmophere on the planet if it were that close to the sun. To prove that just look at pictures of Mercury. Everything would be black and burned up. But thats just if you want to make it real looking, I understand this is si-fi, anything goes. And i'm not the imagination police lol. Also star feild looks really bland, i'd make more brighter stars since 50% of all stars are close to other stars called a star system. Anyway wonderful piece, I'm really loving this. Keep it up and keep dishing these kind of pieces up. You got my vote on this mate. :+fav:

Some people never cease to amaze;) But sitll there are some thing si can pick on. The sun, something about it; looks very blurry, also the roids look alot sharper than the rest of the things int his piece. However the planets, wow. Fantastic work there. As well as the clouds in the star scape, very nice touch.

Overall i am just nitpicking. Nice to see some work from you;)

Well, I'm blown away, and will add this to my favourites. I love the asteroids in particular. ^-^

Though I do think it'd work better if the lighting was stronger on the main planet and if the moon weren't so similar in size to the planet.

An art dedicated to me... thanks (j/k) :D

Beatiful scene.

But something is bugging me.... Is it possible for a planet to have an atmosphere when it is that close to sun?

superb work! love every part of it apart from the sun. theres 2 things about it.. in my opinion of course. firstly, i think there is a bit too much contrast in the surface of the sun, and compared to the rest of the image it looks a bit too blurred, secondly, if that WAS the sun the glow around it would have to be quite a bit brighter :)

but to the planets! i totally love them. especially the clouds on the main planet, they are so sharp its great! the asteroids are nice, i like how you have made them subtle by putting them almost totally in shadow, this is good as it doesnt distract you from the main focal point

a very nice piece mate! good to see you been improving even more whilst i was away :)

The blurryness is becouse of the heat ;) no seriously, i think you got some good points there the contrast does seem a little to high on the surface and well the brightness... i could make it very bright but then the sun wouldnt be very visible as well as the rest surrounding it. So that is the reason. Tnx for the comment, keeps me sharp :)

indeed. about the realism factor of the brightness of the sun, normally yea it would have to be very bright. but as you said, then you would have nothing else on the page but sun glow heh :)
