Hey, ive got a question, this way works for me in small pictures, but on average sized ones, it looks good when you preview it, but as soon as you press "done" on the levels, it just jumps back to a load of noise. i use ps elements tho, could that be why its bugging up?

I don't know why that is happening. I used an older version of photoshop though and i don't know haw it works in elements. So can't really help you out... Sorry.

Very basic starfield, but it looks quite good, and it's very fast, it can be done in about minute :)

You know, you can save a step by selecting "Monochromatic" in the Noise Filter menu box. Its down near the bottom. That way you dont have to go through the whole Hue/Saturation bit. :P

Anyways, good tut. Ive seen similar ones, but you have some original steps in there as well. Thanks for the resource. :)

i think the second last step looks better than the last step... there are more stars, i know its probably not as realistic, but i think it looks better...

just my 2 cents...

It's a nice basic tutorial, you should make an advanced photoshop users tutorial to get alot of awesome stars.

Nice anyway... (Not very helpful in my opinion though)

well, i'm sure you people are creative enough to change the way i make it to the way you like it. If i would tell everything i do to make my starfields complete it wouldn't be fun anymore and i think people have to make up things for themselves as well. How do you think i came up with this. it is just endless trying with filters and stuff.

You just have to open the .zip/.rar file and then open the html file.

P.s. I don't find the tutorial verry usefull, I find the clone stamp in photoshop much easier and with better result. Sorry...

Well, i guess eveyone has a personal way of makin it and i do it this way. I make it within 30 seconds and it is a good base for all my and everyone elses pieces imo. Good variation and spreading of the stars unlike most galaxies i see wich have just big groupes of bright stars and a lot of almost empty spaces. but like i said opinions are different on this.
