Hey there,

I don't know if anyone of you noticed but i got a very disturbing message from ~vissroid He read the submision agreement and was stunned by what it said. So i read it as well and i must say that i find it very disturbing to say the least. I hadn't noticed the entire agreement before and i don't know how long it is there but if you read it you will be just as amazed as we are. Deviantart basicly can do whatever they want with our art. If we remove our art and they have copies of it they can do whatever they want with those. So we don't have anything to say about our own art..... How is that??!! Maybe i misinterpeted some things but i don't think so. I'd like to hear what you think about this agreement. Just click submit and you'll see it. Read it in let me know what you make of it and what you think about it.

personally I still think the agreement has been altered since its last version of them owning everything the last from what I remembered just said it gave them the right to change it(so it could be a thumb and be placed on cell phones) not be owned by them...all it should have said was those kinds of things...not sayin they they own it...thats wrong if you ask me

The Submission Agreement has been there since the day you joined, and you signed up for it. dA don't make profit from your art, they don't use it without your consent and they've promised that. However to create thumbnails or in any way alter your art (re-sizing, adding borders), they need your permission in the form of that contract. You can terminate the contract if you wish. But dA aren't making profit from us, and I don't think they'd start.

the submission agreement has NEVER changed. Its just a rumor that actually happened 3 years ago too!

The submission agreement only means that DA is allowed to upload your thumbs without getting sued! nothing to worry bout'

to display, copy, reproduce, exhibit, publicly perform, broadcast, rebroadcast, transmit, retransmit, distribute through any electronic means (including analog and digital) or other means, and electronically or otherwise publish any or all of the Artist Materials, including any part of them, and to include them in compilations for publication, by any and all means and media now known or not yet known or invented ;

Does that sound to you like it is meant for thumbnail making only btw??

That universal broadcasting & such i am guessing has to do with the deviantmobile service. Although i guess it wouldnt hurt if that was included only when allowing your image for deviant mobile, if thats what its for.

it just means that DA doesnt get sued for the art you post up. You have to agree, you cant just say "im going to post my art here"

When we used to submit, we didnt have to accept, thats the only thing they changed, but the submission agreement has always been like that, you did accept it at one point

i was just going to say that. but the part about this agreement that most people are getting pissed about is the fact that they actually own your name, logo, ect. I personally think people shouldn't post shit here at DA. I'm leaving as soon as I find another site
